Today we celebrate the birthday of Georg Joachim von Lauchen Rheticus, born in 1514. He was an astronomer, mapmaker, and designer of navigational gadgets. For some reason it seemed nice and quiet around our neighborhood yesterday. I have no idea why. Maybe all the noisy people were on vacation. I think the house across the back street from me got sold. It's been more or less semi-for-sale off and on for about three years, and I guess they finally either found a buyer who'd pay their inflated asking price or gave up and took what somebody offered. Maybe the new folks will be nice noisy people who'll keep the neighborhood suitably enlivened. Happy Enlivening! OrneryPest |
