Oh by the way, folks, oldest entries are deleted to keep the total entry count at 666 because that number is sure to rile up somebody who sorely needs it. My more serious diary: |
Today we commemorate the day Attila the Hun captured Metz in 451 AD. Since the Roman Empire had, for all practical purposes, degenerated into a mere shadow about a century and a half ago anyhow, he really didn't have a hard job of it. We remember Attila the Hun as a brutal savage, but he introduced the ideas of diplomatic immunity and humane treatment of prisoners of war, two concepts unknown to the Romans. But anyhow, our choir is finished with Now The Green Blade, at least for this year. Praise God For Jesus, as one of our choir members is fond of saying. Now The Green Blade is written in an intermix of major and minor, a la Schubert, but the composer ain't got anything like Schubert's talent. Also, the bass part has got only a few of the lowest notes in the absolute tip-top end of my vocal range, so I spend most of the song standing there faking it. Oh by the way, have I ever mentioned what I'd like to do to composers who write the bass part going clear up to Middle C (and sometimes even beyond)? I'd like to stick shish kabob skewers through their adams apple while they're standing barefoot in a pit fulla hungry scorpions, so they'll understand what a bass voice feels like trying to get up that high. Bob the Rain God stayed active all day yesterday and is still going strong. The Wondrous Weather Website is promising to put him to bed by this afternoon, but I suspect the garden soil may be a bit damp to dig until tomorrow. Happy Rain Dancing! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
