Oh by the way, folks, oldest entries are deleted to keep the total entry count at 666 because that number is sure to rile up somebody who sorely needs it. My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Frederick I, Elector of Saxony, born in 1370. Lilacs are budding out already! They're probably gonna bloom long before the traditional Lilac Blooming Day of May 5. Lilac Blooming Day is the day I cruise over to The Greenery and get my tomato plants. I've still got nine usable tomato cages out of the twenty or so that I made a whole buncha years ago. About three tomato plants will give me all the tomatoes we can eat and give away and take to grandiose church dinners. Poppies are sprouting already. They're probably gonna bloom long before the traditional Poppy Blooming Day of May 15. Poppy Blooming Day is the day I cruise over to The Greenery to get my pepper plants. Nineteen pepper plants fit neatly into one hexagonal plot and will give me a nice variety of peppers. Global Warming is wonderful! Well, maybe I'll change my tune along about August. Do carrots love tomatoes, like it says in one well-known gardening book title? Probably not. Carrots won't grow within about eight feet of a tomato plant, as far as I can tell. Now about onions! An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps everybody away. Maybe that's why folks who eat lotsa onions are more peaceful and have lower blood pressure. But anyhow, the Wondrous Weather Website is predicting another great day to plant another plot of turnips. Happy Friday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
