A Walk Through the
Valley of the Shadow

Today we celebrate the birthday of Athanasius Kircher, born in 1601 or 1602. He was a Jesuit scholar with a wide range of knowledge, rather surprising for a dude who wasn't even sure of his own birthday.

Yesterday's dentist appointment was not wasted. The dentist found a broken tooth. One tooth near the back has a bit of enamel chipped off and I didn't even realize it. I gotta go back Monday and he promises he'll fix it up right goodly.

And our Intrepid Reverend Clergy has huffily informed me that the youth group's magnificent creation out behind the graveyard is properly called a Labyrinth, not a Mystic Meditation Maze. Sorry, preacher, but this is my diary and I'll tell all the lies I want to.

As for today, the Wondrous Weather Website is predicting minor coastal flooding. Good! The Tiki Bar is only about five or six feet above usual high tide level in the bay, so the customers oughta have a jolly good swim.

I think my place is safe, though. Even Hurricane Whatshername a few years ago fell about half a foot short of flooding my house.
