Today we wish a fond Happy Birthday to Lena Horne, born in 1917. May she sing forever! Although I understand she's retired from doing public performances.

And I'll join our little corner of Diary Land in bidding a sad farewell to Cosmic Crayola. I met her in person only once, at Journal Con several years ago, and I got to talk with her only a coupla minutes or so. She was quite the upbeat lady. Maybe I'll buy her book. It oughta be fun to read.

Yesterday's multi-quest was a partial success.

Lowes for some wood to make some furniture the church lady's guild wants for the back-room closet. (Success, they had everything.)

Wal Mart for a second one of those kitchen knives I like so well but it's always in the dishwasher when I go to make my daily onion sandwich. (Failure, they didn't have a dishwasher-able model in stock.)

Foot Locker for new jogging shoes. (Failure, their Lexington Park store appears to have gone out of business.)

Post office to get my mail. (Success, my box key always works perfectly except when they stuff the box too full.)

And so today I'll be starting in on that furniture.
