Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Gabriel Cramer, born in 1704. He was a mathematics professor who dreamed up the heretical idea of trying to teach mathematics in modern vernacular language instead of Latin. He also invented (or rather refined, because somebody else already invented the initial idea) Cramer's Rule, which is useful in curve-fitting. Now, folks, every scientist knows that curve-fitting has gotta be done with extreme care, because it's such a close relative of fudge-factoring. Curve-fitting is legit, fudge-factoring ain't. Unless you're baking cookies, of course. But anyhow, yesterday was great, as planned. Nothing happened. Today I suppose I'll dabble upon my lawn a bit with Morris the Mower, and perhaps treat my hedges to an appointment with Clyde the Clipper. Then it'll rain. I've sent my creation myth entry into the Creation Myth Contest, and I've received confirmation that they received it. As soon as I find out that I didn't win, I'll post it somewhere on the Intermuck. Happy Friday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
