Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we wish a fond Happy Birthday to Neil Armstrong, born in 1930. May his historic moon-walk be remembered forever! Especially by those conspiracy wackaloonies who claim it never happened. And now, folks, for a bit of African history. Back in about the twelfth century or thereabouts when Christian missionaries first arrived in Nigeria, they convinced the Nigerian tribesmen to beware of certain horribly evil people called Witches. So, the Nigerian tribesmen began torturing their children to prevent them from becoming witches. The Christian missionaries sort of approved of this custom, or at least didn't actively disapprove. Fast-forward to modern times. Just in the last coupla weeks, who's finally trying to end this centuries-old custom of torturing children? Atheists! Yes, folks, those horrible unbelievers are trying to meddle with a time-honored custom. So Christian groups are disrupting the atheists' meetings. I haven't seen any place where the Anglican church specifically is involved, but I haven't seen any Anglicans denounce their fellow Christians, either. But anyhow, on the home scene, nothing is happening. The church ladies have asked me to make a small shelf to cover one of the furnace ducts in the church furnace room which doubles over as a utility room, so I found scrap materials that'll do. I consider any project a success when I use up more scraps than I make. So this project, small though it may be, using, as it does, entirely scraps, is a 100% success. Happy Wednesday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
