Today we wish a fond Happy Birthday to Esther Williams, born in 1921. Championship swimmer, actress, swimsuit designer, swimming pool endorser. Sounds like a success story to me!

Yesterday was just loaded with nice peace and quiet. Then we went dining out at the Ruddy Duck, which is just a bit farther than realistic walking distance, but we had a Designated Driver with us.

I hafta give the Ruddy Duck a bit of a mixed review. The place was very noisy due to the lack of any sort of sound-deadening properties of the architecture. Their bar had at least eighty-six dozen brands of exotic beer but was miserably understocked with much else, and the bartender was one of those dudes who causes you wonder how long ago he died and whether a vitamin overdose could revive him.

Food was excellent. Service was terrible. The waitress valiantly did her best but was hamstrung at every turn by incompetent management.

But anyhow, nothing's gonna happen today except that the Wondrous Weather Website is predicting a sudden brief heavy rain precisely at the exact stroke of 9:00 AM. Remarkable how precise they pretend to be and then miss it totally.
