Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Giovanni Battista Benedetti, born in 1530. He was a mathematician. One of his proofs, which I'm not sure how to interpret the write-up of, has something to do with constructing a triangle in which the sum of two sides is greater than the third side. I always thought that was always true of all triangles, so you can draw your triangle any way you please. And on the county medical scene, doctors are moving out of the county and more people needing doctors are moving in. Rationing health care sounds draconian, but what's the alternative? When a brilliant young college student on his way to a PhD needing an appendectomy and an elderly alcoholic needing liver surgery show up simultaneously at the emergency room and there's only one surgeon on duty, what choice have we got? Who's gonna make the decision? And what if this sorta supply-demand crunch starts happening nationwide? Oh well, at least our new computer got delivered about mid-afternoon yesterday. We haven't had time to set it up yet. If it turns out that they've assigned the hard drive onto F instead of C we're gonna take it back in person and insert it sideways into the salesman's (certain bodily orifice). There's no operating system on the market that works completely correctly with the hard drive anywhere except C. At least none I know of. Happy Friday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
