Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Buddy Holly, born in 1936. He was quite the rock-n-roll dude before he was killed in a plane crash. Yesterday's Gospel reading was Mark 7:24-37 in which Jesus appears to be a Nazi Skinhead, insulting a woman of a wrong ethnic group, calling her a dog, but he finally consents to casting the demon out of her daughter but doesn't seem too happy about doing so. The preacher spent a nice long 21 minutes and 28 seconds trying to explain this hogwash, but it looks like all he did was bury the hogwash in more hogwash. Oh well, that's all religion is anyhow. But at least the bike ride up to Middleham Chapel and back again was great. A bit of a headwind compounded with the slightly uphill average climb (about 135 feet altitude gain in 6 miles), so the trip back home was mostly coasting. And so today is Labor Day so nothing's gonna happen. Well, we might do a quest to Staples for a new box of printer paper and a coupla ballpoint pens that work, but nobody cares about that. Somehow or t'nother, our desk has gotten merrily festooned with about a half a dozen coffee cups commandeered as pen holders, and they're all full of ballpoint pens, most of which don't work. So whenever we want one, we've gotta go buy more. One of these days I'm gonna go through them all and throw out the ones that don't work, which will probably result in most of the coffee cups getting returned to the cupboard. Happy Labor Day! Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
