Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate a feast day in honor of Saint Cyprian of Carthage. We'll use green altar covers. Yesterday's drive up to Wash DC was a bit heavy traffic. They were having some sorta Million Moron March. But anyhow, the presentation about straw houses was great. Straw is actually a more practical building material than what the Three Little Pigs story makes it out to be. The straw is densely baled and the bales are stacked up overlapped sorta like bricks and then spiked together with bamboo stakes. Then the whole shebang is coated with plaster or stucco or adobe or some such sorta stuff. Densely baled straw is actually less flammable than most building materials, and properly dried straw doesn't rot. Straw is a waste product from grain-growing and is nutritionally worthless as animal feed, so what is the world supposed to do with billions of tons of the stuff? Burn it and contribute to global warming? Building houses out of it appears to make better sense. Well anyhow, now that it's Sunday, we've gotta descend out of the practical world where we actually need to solve our problems, into the depths of the fantasy world where we can just recite mystic incantations at our own belly buttons and God will send teams of angels down from heaven to do everything for us. Happy Sunday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
