Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Ismael Boulliau, born in 1605. He was a mathematician and astronomer. He began life as a Calvinist and converted to Catholic, and somehow his achievements musta escaped notice of either religion because he lived to the merry old age of 89. Yesterday was Amputation Sunday. The Gospel reading was Mark 9:38-50, in which Jesus recommends chopping off whichever body part is causing you to sin. The preacher did a rollicking good sermon that had us practically rolling in the aisle. Actually, if anybody's so delusional they think that some body part is causing them to sin, it's probably their lack of brains that's causing them to sin. And how do you chop off the absence of something? But anyhow, the Great Annual Steamed Crab Picnic in the afternoon went great. We did it outdoors and the weather was great except that it had been raining so much that the ground was so soft that the chairs kept sinking into the ground. That was lotsa fun trying to cope with and watching everybody else trying to cope. And so today nothing's gonna happen. Well, maybe a delivery. I just now got a phone call from another family member that I better stick around for UPS to deliver something that's gonna need signed for. I hope I get some advance notice as to the approximate delivery hour. Happy Monday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
