Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Giuseppe Verdi, born in 1813. He composed lotsa nice operas. I see that Our Intrepid President has received the Nobel Peace Prize for reciting a few grandiose platitudes about world peace and keeping his finger off of the world's biggest Big Red Button. But nobody else in the world has done even that much, so I suppose if the Nobel Committee feels duty-bound to award it to somebody, Obama's probably a reasonable choice. For Mankind's Been Endowed (Any readers here old enough to remember that song?) And the first deranged lunatic who punches his own Big Red Button will set off a cataclysm that'll render the earth uninhabitable by life as we know it. But termites and cockroaches will survive, and perhaps within a few hundred million years they'll evolve into a peace-loving species a bit more intelligent than humans, and God's Great Plan for Peace On Earth will finally be fulfilled. And today is Saturday, which is the day after yesterday all day until tomorrow if nobody punches their Big Red Button. The Wondrous Weather Website is predicting a bit of cooling down, with a bit of rain this afternoon. Good! I'll take some! Happy Saturday! OrneryPest |

Oh by the way, if you're one of those insufferable snooty folks who think
you've just gotta have a (gasp) banner (shudder) to link to me,
I suppose I'll let you download this one for the purpose, if you really insist.
