Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, born in 1685. He was the primary pre-eminent musical composer of the Baroque era. Last night's church dinner was 12 people including one preacher. The presento afterwards was about Christianity during Constantine's time. The Christian party line, of course, not completely supportable by known historical facts. Anyhow it included a mock re-enactment of the Council of Nicea, even down to the fistfight between Bishop Arius and Nicholas of Myra. Anyhow, even Christians agree that Constantine was not really all that much of a good guy, since he used the newly developing Christian religion primarily to grab earthly power for himself. Today looks like it's gonna be awful cold with a brief bit of snow along about noon or thereabouts. I guess that won't bother me much. It's a wee bit early to start in on Gordon the Garden anyhow.
