Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we express our appreciation to David Hayward, aka Nakedpastor, for this highly accurate portrayal of what it takes to keep a church in business. Yes, folks, now if you can imagine that all that hot air was made from burning dollar bills. And that's just about what I thought during our tour of the National Cathedral yesterday. That magnificent edifice musta cost several megafortunes! About fifty or sixty individual chapels, the big main one could probably seat several thousand True Believers, and smaller ones of all sizes down to perhaps a dozen people. And every one of them merrily festooned with intricate carvings, statues, stained glass windows, mystic meditation mazes, whatever! And it must take quite a staff of maids just to keep the floors swept. Not to mention keeping stuff repaired. As a matter of fact, they're still in the process of repairing the damage from the small earthquake we had a while back. The damage was very minor compared to the total structure, but it's still costing something on the order of ten million bucks. And now that it appears to have quit raining, an awful lot of my lawn seriously needs mowing. I better get onto that little job. Happy Wednesday! OrneryPest |
