Today we celebrate a feast day in honor of Saint Dunstan of Canterbury. We're also celebrating Pentecost Sunday, for which we use red altar covers and wear red clothes and "Speak in Tongues" meaning we spout jibberish while rolling in the aisle.

Yesterday morning I took my Giant Pry Bar Of Death and popped out the sign posts that my less-well-equipped compatriot was unable to pull out.

And then in the afternoon was a Washington Area Secular Humanist presento about the relationship between human behavior and human language. Very interesting presento!

It appears that the primary use of language is for us to try to influence each other's behavior. Other uses, such as expressing emotions and conveying information, are actually much less important.

Well anyhow, now that I've had my dose of reality for the weekend, it's time to go and try to find my red shirt so I can join my fellow True Believers as we go rolling in the aisle and spouting jibberish.

Happy Pentecost!
