Today we make fun of the Australian National University for censoring their student newspaper for trying to publish a nice little cartoon that rather mildly makes fun of one of the world's most idiotic religions. They're frightened witless at the prospect of a buncha crybabies who are likely to throw a tantrum. Nothing happened yesterday. There's a new restaurant called The Striped Rock that's preparing to open where Catamarans used to be. At one point they were aiming for an opening date of May 27 which was yesterday. I strolled down there about mid-afternoon and it looks like they've got an awful lot to do yet. Lotsa kitchen appliances were sitting on the front porch and a buncha people inside were doing painting and trim work. Oh well, maybe they'll make it later this week. I hope they're not gonna get jinxed by opening up in the old Catamarans location with very few externally visible mods to the building. Catamarans went bankrupt partly because of general mismanagement and partly because they tried to sorta halfway become a night club but they selected their entertainment program to appeal to the Loud Crowd, and the frequency with which law enforcement had to keep getting called into the place led to the revocation of their liquor license.
