Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate a feast day in honor of the Early Martyrs of Rome. These were the Christians that Emperor Nero executed because he was claiming that they had set the Great Fire of Rome. Many Romans believed that Nero himself had set the fire. Most likely, neither claim was true. Yesterday nothing much happened, thus allowing me to get a buncha yard work done in spite of the heat. The Wondrous Weather Website was warning "elderly" people to stay indoors in the air conditioning. At a mere 70 years old, I'm not "elderly" yet. At least not elderly enough for a bit of nice warm air to frighten me off. And then in the evening we dined at the new place called The Striped Rock, which has opened up where the old Catamarans used to be. Excellent place. We recommend it. Service was a trifle confused because the management is still trying to figure out how to manage, but hey, it was only their second day of operation! We'll give 'em a break! Their appetizer menu includes nachos, which we tried, and they done great! The only other place around here that serves nachos is The Captains Table, and theirs are sorta mediocre. Over at the Southern Maryland Forum the consensus is that The Striped Rock is an awful dumb name for a restaurant, but hey, what's in a name anyhow? Anyhow, it's now time to zoom off for our obligatory hour of pretending to boss God around by reciting mystic incantations at our own belly buttons. Happy Sunday! OrneryPest |
