Today we celebrate a feast day in honor of Saint Aquila the Apostle. He was supposedly one of Saint Paul's compadrionies. Yesterday we held a funeral for one of our church members. Both her husband and her son are prominent lawyers and active in politics, so everybody who is anybody important on the political scene was there. The chapel was stuffed to the point where the fire marshal probably would throw a fit. Then in the afternoon there was a Southern Maryland Secular Humanist presento about morality regardless of religion. Only seven people showed up. Fortunately it was a series of videos, not a live presenter, so we weren't embarrassed by the skimpy turnout. When I got home from that, my neighbor was finishing up dealing with his tree that had fallen into my front yard so I helped him chop up a few of the last remains. So now I suppose I'll hafta mow it. But not until afternoon. Morning is gonna get blown off pretending we're bossing God around by reciting mystic incantations at our own belly buttons. Happy Sunday! OrneryPest |
