Today we celebrate the birthday of Robert Plot, born in 1640. He was an alchemist who tried to study the natural world and came up with all sorts of amusing misconceptions.

Yesterday nothing happened. Today is Friday The Thirteenth so all sorts of bad luck is supposed to happen except that I've never experienced any significant increase in bad luck on previous Friday The Thirteenths so I'm strongly inclined to conclude that the designation of Friday The Thirteenth as an unlucky day is largely hogwash.
