Today we celebrate the birthday of Samuel Colt, born in 1814. He was an industrialist, best known for improvements in the design and manufacture of guns. Yesterday one of the tron undergrounders Planners And Estimators was in the neighborhood and stopped to yak. It appears that there probably won't be much inconvenience to me. He said they'll probably get to in front of my place week after next, and when they dig across driveways they try to avoid keeping anybody's driveway blocked for more than a coupla hours. He also mentioned that a problem they're running into is that, when the water and sewer systems were undergrounded a buncha years ago, the exact location of the water main was plotted wrong, so now they've gotta do more pick-and-shovel digging and less machine digging than they'd hoped for. And it looks like they won't be starting the sidewalk until next year. Oh well, maybe the sidewalk won't happen in my lifetime. Who knows? Happy Saturday! OrneryPest |
