Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Lorenzo II de' Medici, born in 1492. He was some important big-time muckity-muck back in Merryo Oldo Italiano. A few days ago one of our neighbors died. He was the Grand Patriarch of the ultra-wealthy family that owns the several billion bucks worth of prime real estate thinly disguised as a cornfield across the street from my place. He was a member of our church but he never came, although he donated a few million bucks a year (perhaps about 1/100-th of 1% of his income). Anyhow, the "viewing" was yesterday evening at his family's place. Traffic in and out was so heavy they had the sheriff's deptment provide a coupla deputies to direct traffic. The funeral is gonna be today in our church's parish hall, which isn't anywhere near big enough to hold everybody that'll probably be there. I'll be staying home. Nobody'll miss me. Most of the folks that'll be there don't know me anyhow. So I suppose I'll spend today quietly contemplating how soon the tron undergrounders are gonna snag another gas line. Happy Friday!
