Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Maimonides, born in 1135. Neither the day nor the year are reliably sourced, but hey, pick a day, any day! He was a Jewish philosopher whose writings had a substantial impact on medieval Christian theology. Yesterday nothing happened except millions of celebrations of Stations Of The Cross throughout the world. Also my newly renewed drivers license came in the mail. Good for 8 years. I'll be 78 years old then, and if family history is any guide I'll be too senile to drive any more at that age. So this may possibly be the last drivers license I ever have, so I better treat it with the greatest of loving kindness. Today it looks like nothing's gonna happen until tomorrow when the Wondrous Weather Website is predicting pouring down rain for Easter Sunday. Back when I was in college there was this woo-woo magazine named "Fate" that had one article in it that claimed that, on an average, Sundays had nicer weather than other days and Easter Sunday tended to have the best weather of all. Well, it so happened that I had a student work grant job in the college weather station, so I had access to about 60 or 70 years worth of records. Guess what! Tain't so! No day, Easter Sunday or t'notherwise, stands out as having significantly different weather than any other day. Happy Weather Watching! OrneryPest! |
