Oh by the way, folks,
Today we observe that the FBI and the NSA are apparently collecting data that they probably aren't smart enough to know what to do with.
That reminds me of the Great Telephone Mystery. I once worked in a large multi-project laboratory, with frequent turnover as to exactly what projects were going on.
There was the time a project moved out and another project moved in, and the out-moving project was supposed to leave the telephones in place. When the in-moving project arrived, the telephones were nowhere to be seen.
So the FBI was called in to investigate the case of stolen telephones. They never found them.
So the phone company was called to put in new phones. They lifted out the lift-out floor sections to get to the hookup boxes, and there were the telephones! The cleaning people had stashed them under the floor to facilitate swabbing the deck!
Needless to say, I really don't have much confidence in federal investigatory agencies of any sort. I worked for the government for too long.
Well anyhow, nothing happened yesterday. It's gonna rain a whole bunch today, so says the Wondrous Weather Website.
