Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate a feast day in honor of Saint Valerian. He was supposedly martyred during the "persecution of Christians" carried out under emperor Marcus Aurelius. If you read your history you'll read that Marcus Aurelius executed lotsa tax evasion activists and street rioters, and did not bother to ask whether any of them were Christians or not. And as for yesterday's Secular Humanist presento, GRRRRRRR!!! I didn't make it there. Traffic was so horribly clogged up on Fierce Smell Road that it was obvious there'd be no possible way to get there before it was mostly over, so I flipped an illegal U-ey and came back home. So today, having failed to get my monthly dose of rational thought, I'll go join my fellow delusional cretins in pretending that some sorta invisible God is secretly masterminding everything. I remember in college religion class (class of 1965, Doane College, associated with the Congregational church so we had a required religious curriculum) our professor asserted that all the Gods people have ever believed in were simply dreamed up out of thin air. The fondest dream of theologians is to try to dream up a God that science can't prove to be nonexistent. No theologian has ever yet succeeded. Happy Delusions! OrneryPest |
