Today we celebrate the birthday of Dan Emmett, born in 1815. He was a song writer who helped popularize Blackface Minstrel shows, a thoroughly idiotic genre that has mercifully lost its popularity in recent years.

And on the religious front, we're beginning to hear rumors about how the Anglican church of Nigeria is threatening to secede from the Anglican Communion if the Archbozo of Cannedlaughterbury does not approve of their terror raids on non-Christian villages. Good! We're better off without them! (No links provided because I can't find any sources I consider reputable.)

Yesterday got warm enough to do the first coat of varnish onto the bed I'm making. It'll take lots longer to dry, but at least it'll eventually dry. The prediction is for a few more days of just barely warm enough for the final coat to eventually dry.

So I'll spend today watching varnish dry. (Exciting, yes-no?) And maybe about Thursday or thereabouts it'll be dry enough for the final coat.
