Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Phil Ochs, born in 1940. He was a singer who's popular in crossword puzzles. Every day I stroll down to the place where they're rebuilding the Lighthouse Restaurant, just to gawk. Nothing to see since the structure is finished and all work is being done indoors now, but it's just sorta fun to observe what sorta subcontractors are there. Yesterday there was an electrician, a carpet company, and a heating and air conditioning company. The company that's rebuilding it currently runs Clarke's Landing restaurant, which they're gonna close down when they open the Lighthouse. I suppose somebody else will take over Clarke's Landing. Since they already know how to run a restaurant, they probably won't have the sorta hangups and delays that some new restaurants have when they try to open, like for instance not knowing quite how to pass the building inspection and occupancy inspection and health deptment inspection and all that wondrous hogwash. Just wondering if they'll have something like the Skipjack Bar like the old Lighthouse used to have. It was built by Cap'm Pepper Langley (my next-door neighbor's uncle). Cap'm Pepper died soon after finishing it, so it'll never be duplicated. Well anyhow, it looks like nothing's gonna happen today. Happy Thursday! OrneryPest |
