Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we celebrate the birthday of Nat King Cole, born in 1919. He was a singer who somehow got fraudulently suckered into the delusion that smoking is good for you, so he died prematurely of lung cancer. Yesterday church was the usual crashing bore except that we had the guest organist who I like because she plays at a nice upbeat tempo. Some people disagree, somehow imagining that God is so stupid that if we sing too fast he won't be able to understand us. Father D (the head boss preacher) preached the sermon in 10 minutes and 52 seconds. Then at announcement time, he announced that Father B (the assistant preacher) is soon retiring. Father B is unfortunately known as a sort of boring preacher because he tries to be scholarly about our religion which doesn't contain anything worth being scholarly about, but outside the pulpit he's a cool dude who has been instrumental in promoting our fellowship, so we'll miss him sorely. And so today it looks like there's some snow on the ground, with more coming down. I'm probably gonna stay indoors. Happy Monday! OrneryPest |
