Oh by the way, folks,
Today we celebrate the birthday of Al Jolson, born in 1886. He was a singer, actor, and comedian, and is popular in crossweird puzzles.
Yesterday church was the usual crashing bore. Father D preached the sermon in 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
Then in the afternoon I finished piling up all the branches and twigs from Thursday evening's hailstorm. So now begins the job of chopping them up.
A coupla weeks ago somebody gave us a redbud tree seedling which I planted. It got destroyed in the hailstorm, so now there's space to plant something else. I think I've got a holly tree seedling that might work.
I've also gotta replace all the screens on my front porch. I haven't decided whether to do it myself or hire a contractor. Maybe I'll start the job myself and see how it goes, realizing, of course, that a contractor charges twice as much for finishing a job the homeowner screwed up than for doing the job from the start.
Happy Memorial Day!
