Today we celebrate the birthday of John Newton, born in 1725. He was a slave trade ship captain who wrote church hymns. You see, in his day virtually all Christian denominations overwhelmingly supported chattel slavery.

Yesterday nothing happened except that it got awful hot. The tron undergrounders quit work about noon or thereabouts, after not extending their ditch any farther, just installing stuff in the existing ditch.

Today it looks like it's probably gonna be pouring down rain all day. I'll be surprised if the tron undergrounders are able to work at all.
