Oh by the way, folks, My more serious diary: |
Today we make fun of yet another loony claim that certain famous people are really members of some shadowy group called The Illuminati and that they are seducing people into occult practices. Through the years, the name Illuminati has been used and reused by short-lived groups trying to claim some sorta intellectual superiority. None of these groups has ever lasted very long, and apparently none of them have any connections with each other. It's impossible to know how many of these groups of so-called Illuminati currently exist nor who's a member of any of them. It's quite apparent, however, that none of them have any real intellectual significance. Well anyhow, it rained all day yesterday. It's still raining this morning. This afternoon we've signed up to tour the National Cathedral and then attend an Even Song put on by some sorta choir. An Even Song, for any of you Dear Readers who aren't familiar with the Episcopal Church, is a long boring mystic ritual consisting of singing the entirety of the Book Of Common Prayer all on one note. True Believers regard it as an enlightening experience. I can't imagine leading such a dull life that I'd ever think of an Even Song as anything but total boredom. Happy Boredom! OrneryPest |
